Coewood Beach Dock –A Long-Awaited Community Addition
Located along the waterfront in Bodden Town, Grand Cayman, the Coe Wood Beach Dock was constructed by Robson Construction as a long-awaited addition for the local community, creating a stronger and more practical connection between the people of Bodden Town and the sea.
The project involved substantial marine and concrete construction works. Robson’s records identify the dock as a reinforced beam-and-slab structure of approximately 4,583 sq. ft., supported on steel pipe pile foundations. The works included site clearance and preparation, temporary marine access using rock pads, environmental silt-control measures, pile installation, reinforced-concrete beams, structural slab construction and associated timber and stainless-steel connection components.
The dock was designed and constructed for durability in Cayman’s coastal environment, using epoxy-coated steel pipe piles, reinforced concrete beams and slabs, pressure-treated timber elements and stainless-steel fixings. These materials and construction methods were selected to provide a robust waterfront facility capable of serving the community over the long term.
More than a marine structure, the new dock provides an important public waterfront amenity for Bodden Town, supporting residents, fishermen, families and visitors while improving access to the shoreline and strengthening the community’s traditional relationship with the sea.
Delivering the project required careful planning around marine access, pile installation, concrete placement and environmental controls, with temporary working platforms and silt-screen systems used to allow construction to proceed safely within the coastal setting.
The Coe Wood Beach Dock demonstrates Robson Construction’s experience in marine foundations, reinforced-concrete dock construction and public-sector waterfront infrastructure, while delivering a long-awaited community asset for the people of Bodden Town.
