Robson Construction delivered the construction of new public restrooms and office space at the Old Man Bay Seaside Park for the Cayman Islands Government, adding an important support facility to the wider community and waterfront improvements in the area.

The project involved the construction of a purpose-built facility incorporating public restroom areas, accessible washroom provisions, office space and associated building services. The works included foundations and structural construction, roof framing and standing-seam roofing, doors and windows, interior partitions and finishes, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, lighting and associated external works. Project coordination also covered specialist details such as accessible facilities, bathroom partitions, sensor-controlled lighting and plumbing fixture requirements.                                                          

 

The project included the construction of a purpose-built building with public restroom facilities, accessible washroom provisions and office space, together with the complete supporting building services and finishes required for long-term public use. Robson’s works included foundations and structural construction, roof framing and standing-seam roofing, doors and windows, interior partitions, floor and wall finishes, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, lighting and associated external works.              

 

Accessibility and durability were key considerations throughout the project. The building incorporated accessible restroom facilities, compliant access routes, durable finishes, weather-resistant roofing and exterior elements suited to Cayman’s coastal environment.

Construction required close coordination between Robson Construction, the Public Works Department, the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure and the project consultants, particularly as architectural, structural, electrical and plumbing details were revised during the works. Robson adjusted the programme and construction sequence to accommodate these changes while continuing to progress the project and coordinate the necessary inspections and approvals.                                                                  

 

Together with the nearby Old Man Bay Dock, the new restroom and office facility forms part of the broader improvement of the Old Man Bay Seaside Park, providing better amenities for local residents, fishermen, families and visitors and helping create a more functional and welcoming public waterfront space.
