Robson Construction carried out major coastal protection and public-realm works at the East End Cemetery, including construction of the cemetery seawall, the front roadside wall and associated sidewalk improvements.

The seawall project was undertaken to provide stronger protection to the cemetery following the impacts of Hurricane Ivan, helping safeguard this important coastal site from future storm surge, wave action and shoreline erosion.

Robson’s scope included demolition, installation of sheet piles, tie-back construction, reinforced-concrete capping works, excavation, backfilling, filling to make up levels and associated structural steel, formwork and footpaths, together with beautification works around the completed structure.                                                                              

 

In addition to the coastal seawall, Robson Construction completed works to the front roadway boundary of the cemetery, including the retaining/front wall and pedestrian sidewalk areas. These improvements helped define and protect the cemetery frontage while providing a safer and more durable pedestrian connection along the roadside.

The project required the integration of marine protection, structural retaining works, concrete construction and public-access improvements within a sensitive and historically important cemetery setting. Construction had to provide long-term resilience while respecting the surrounding community and the significance of the site.

The East End Cemetery project demonstrates Robson Construction’s experience in seawalls, sheet-pile construction, reinforced concrete, retaining walls, sidewalks and hurricane-resilient coastal infrastructure, delivering both protective infrastructure and practical improvements for the East End community.
